CHAPTER TWELVE:
DAVE'S DREAM COME TRUE

NBC President, Bob Wright, decided that NBC had to make Dave an offer. Dave was offered the Tonight Show. Now Dave was really Feeling Good because he had always wanted the Tonight Show.


The NBC offer was submitted on January 8, 1993 as follows:

¤ The Tonight Show

¤ A guaranteed salary between $7.5 MIL and $12.5 MIL

¤ 3 to 4 year guarantee - starting May 1994

David Letterman had received all of the offers. And now, it was time for David to do some "soul searching". David was to contemplate over a decision that would alter his television career for the rest of his life.
